18/11/2008 - ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT
The National Council of the AAAA is pleased to announce that Peter Hein was elected President of the Association at the National Council meeting held in Sydney on 21st October. He replaces Andrew Schram who will stay on as a Director and Immediate Past President after serving a three-year term as President.
Peter began his career in the automotive industry in 1973 with Bridgestone Automotive Products Division (formerly Uniroyal), selling rubber, urethane and plastic components to the Australian OE car manufacturers.
In 1990 he joined NGK Spark Plug (Australia) Pty Ltd as National Sales Manager and has overseen dramatic growth making NGK the market leader in spark plugs in Australia. Peter now holds the position of Associate Director - Sales, for Australia and New Zealand and has been on the AAAA National Council for six years, the last three as Vice President.
Other changes to Council include the election of David Fraser as Vice President and Bob Pattison as Director. David served as a National Councillor and Director of the AAAA from 2001 to 2005 in his role as Group General Manager – Automotive for Coventry and then rejoined the AAAA National Council in 2006 when he took up his current role of General Manager Automotive for Capricorn Society Ltd. Capricorn is one of the world's biggest automotive buying co-operatives with over 12,000 members in three countries.
Bob Pattison is Chief Executive Officer of GUD Automotive. GUD Automotive is a subsidiary of GUD Holdings Ltd. GUD Automotive is the owner of the Ryco brand of filtration products and markets a full range of filters including oil, air fuel and cabin and distributes its products into the OE, OES and Aftermarket distribution channels. Bob has served on the AAAA National Council since 2006.
Peter Martin from Hella Australia was re-elected as Treasurer and Greg Barker from RSP Australia was re-elected as Secretary. Mark Pedder was also elected to the AAAA National Council for a two-year term. Mark is Managing Director of Pedders Suspension, Australia's number one steering and suspension specialists, and represents the third generation of leadership of this icon of the Australian Automotive Industry.
Mark took the company reigns from his father Ron in January 2005 and has used his "grass roots" experience to further cement the company as a leader in steering and suspension innovation in not only Australia, but the world. A full list of the 2008/09 AAAA National Council is shown below:

The new National Council holds office until the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting in 2009.
With representation from all mainland states and a strong blend of industry experience and knowledge of the various segments of the AAAA membership we believe that the current AAAA National Council is well positioned to provide leadership and strategic direction of the Association in this challenging economic climate.
