13/10/2008 - MEMBERS SEE RESULTS IN FRANKFURT

In mid September, the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association led a trade mission to the world’s largest automotive aftermarket trade show, Automechanika Frankfurt.  Twelve member companies participated on the national pavilion including, Automotive Components Limited, Disc Brakes Australia, Mackay Automotive, Mills Rubber Innovations, Super Pro Suspensions/Fulcrum, ARK Corporation, Cateran, Injectronics, Precision Parts, Australian Clutch Services, Powerdown Australia, and Pedders Suspension.

When asked about the success of this mission, AAAA National Membership Manager Ben Bartlett stated, “Whilst it is still early to gauge direct sales generated by the show, initial reports are extremely strong, with all exhibitors expecting to see their business grow as a direct result of the mission.”  Mr Bartlett went on to say, “Automechanika Frankfurt is a vitally important show for Australian companies to participate in, as it truly is an international show, with visitors not only from Europe.”

The 20th Automechanika Frankfurt exhibition strongly confirmed its role as the leading international trade fair for the automotive industry according to Detlef Braun, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt. He remarks: “We set new records this year, with more than 166,000 visitors from a total of 146 countries and 4,680 exhibitors from 80 countries. The share of international visitors has increased to some 50 percent (from 40% in 2006). We are particularly pleased about new visitor groups from Eastern Europe and Latin America.” Detlef Braun continues: “Automechanika Frankfurt is one of the best fairs in our portfolio. It is a brand that is trusted today around the world. The areas of emphasis we set at Automechanika 2008 truly reflected the spirit of the times. Environmental protection is the challenge, innovativeness and solutions for sustainable mobility are the solutions. At this year’s Automechanika, we were able to see how the automobile industry can make driving safer, cleaner and more efficient in the future.”
A full report on the Australian participation at this show will be printed in the next edition of Automotive Aftermarket Magazine.  For any questions regarding this mission or future export missions into other markets, please contact the AAAA National Office on 03 9561 7044.
